REFLECTION

The original walk gave me the most information, and a strong base/ topic that I need to follow along. The walk did not give me a clear idea about what I am going to create or what material I would use; however, it set the main theme for my final creation, the soul of nature. I came up with this theme as I saw a mask hanging on a tall tree, as if it is the actual face of the tree. It reminds me of “Mother Nature”, who tends to have a kind, forgiving soul and holds the responsibility to protect nature. I was also inspired by “The Enchanted Rose” in “Beauty and the Beast”, and the creative perspective from an artist named Claude Monet towards nature. Lantern was not my first choice for my final result, I was originally going to create a small green landscape 3D art on a hard cardboard, representing what I saw in the backfield. As this idea does not have a function, I think making a lantern would be a wiser choice.  The critiques I wrote for my classmates also helped me a lot t...

Critiques

Niamh Her mood board addressed politics and climate change. It also includes pictures of cats, hashtags and flowers. I can see that the dress efficiently brought the viewers back to the political past, by using the brown beige color, and displaying the rough texture of the dress as well. I love how the upper part of the dress is a corset with bones, which makes the dress look like something that wealthy women in history would wear. Other than that, it is a tiny bit unclear about the link and connections between the dress and the mood board. I would love the dress or the mannequin itself to represent the theme of nature more (beside just flowers). I think she could do this by adding more natural details, maybe to a hat, or a cocktail hat.  The object is tangible, and it has a function. People could use this to display and use it as a model for a real dress. I love the idea of making a dress on a small mannequin, since it definitely gave the audiences a view of how the dress would lo...

Mood board

This is my mood board, and it mainly focus on the beauty of nature and flowers. I love taking close-up pictures of flowers and big trees, as I can have different views on the petals' details and admire how big trees are. One interesting thing that I mentioned in my mood board, is about how plants and nature have souls, they can talk and live their life as any living things. Watching flowers and trees from a worm's-eye view makes me imagine as if the flowers are gigantic monsters in cartoons and movies that I watched as a child. One artist that I love is Claude Monet. He inspires me to create this mood board about flowers, as I admire his flowers paintings. One of his amazing artwork is "Sunflowers". He painted four views of the steps descending to the garden behind his house in 1881.  "Sunflowers" by Claude Monet
