Final course reflection

This semester has nearly ended and I feel grateful for being a part of the Creativity seminar class. I've learnt how creativity is not just about art, music, or fashion but it could be inspiration from simple objects, or the ability to think about tasks in different angles. From this class, I also found my own perspective towards creativity, and recognized my own style. Activities in class helped me to better understand what kind of person I am, or whether I like minimalism or complexity. I realized how I love nature and aesthetics, which I never noticed before.

I learnt a lot of things as well as practiced good working habits this semester. A habit that I developed is that I tend to pay a lot of attention to large projects, and some days I spent several hours straight on developing ideas, designing, and creating. I develop this habit since creativity projects require time and effort. Also when I already have an idea, I usually get work done fast because I do not want to miss any ideas or thoughts. Furthermore I got to collaborate with my peers in some activities, and thanks to that I acknowledged some new creative ideas and advice from them that I could not think of because each individual has a different creative perspective towards a topic. I also understand how better teamwork leads to better and more far-reaching results.

This was also my first time having a seminar class and there were definitely some difficulties. At the start of the semester, I was still quite confused about how the seminar works, what is creativity and what is the goal for this class. As I got more familiar with teachers, friends, and the activities, I had challenges accomplishing large projects. I need to create an object, and recently a big cape, which I had never done. It was hard to do these things that not only required knowledge, but also skills and effort. However, I had such a great experience and these challenges contribute to who I am today. '

Although there were some difficulties during class, I really enjoyed the process. I was fascinated by many new activities and topics such as “walking the space”, or going to the backfield and listening to music at the same time to appreciate nature. These activities were very special and memorable to me as they helped me to relax my mind and understand myself better.

Thinking back to the beginning of the semester, I notice how I’ve grown up. In the past, I was inspired by arts, nature, colors and very normal objects around me. Now, I am still fascinated by colors around me, but I learnt to appreciate the dark and the challenges, not only the beauty and the appearance of things. In the last manifesto project, I decorated the cap with gold and bright glitters, but the meaning of it was about hardships and effort to find solutions.

Thanks to this seminar class I have discovered more about who I am as a creative person. I found my creative style, my aesthetic as well as appreciate the beauty of things more than I usually do. Lastly, thanks to this experience, I would be able to enjoy the beauty of things around me better, I may know what job or major suits me the best and so on.
